Job Description

Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The registered nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Minimum Education Required

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. Experience in relevant care setting preferred.

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 19 bed specialized inpatient care area designed for patients who require a level of care more intensive than a general medical‑surgical unit, but not to the degree of continuous, high‑acuity monitoring found in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The PCU bridges the gap between these care levels, offering comprehensive monitoring, early intervention, and advanced clinical management to support patient stabilization and recovery.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
