Join a collaborative perioperative team as a PACU Travel Registered Nurse in Castro Valley, California. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide post-anesthesia care for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a dynamic Level II trauma setting. PACU Travel Nursing Job Details
Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing

Position: PACU Registered Nurse (RN) travel contract

Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,320

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift

Shift Options: Variable day and evening shifts, typically 7:00 a.m.–Weekends: As needed

Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients

PACU and perioperative services within a Level II trauma center

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
Current Registered Nurse license in California

At least 2 years of recent PACU, post-anesthesia care, or perioperative nursing experience

Previous charge nurse experience required

Experience with Epic electronic medical records required

Experience caring for patients recovering from general anesthesia, deep sedation, and moderate sedation

Strong clinical assessment, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery skills

Trauma center experience preferred

Ability to care for approximately two patients per nurse, depending on acuity and phase of recovery

PACU Nurse Responsibilities
Provide Phase I post-anesthesia nursing care for patients recovering from general surgery and procedural anesthesia.

Perform extubation and airway support interventions within scope of practice and facility protocols.

Care for patients following endoscopy, interventional radiology, cardiac, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, neurologic, and other surgical or diagnostic procedures.

Provide Phase II recovery care, including discharge readiness assessments, patient education, and follow-up instructions.

Float to perioperative services as needed to support pre-procedure care and moderate-sedation recovery.

Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, procedural teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary partners.

Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient outcomes in Epic.
