Material Handler/Packaging & Warehouse - 2nd Shift

Material Handler
Reports to: Supervisor
Purpose of the Position: The Material Handler has the responsibility of maintaining an uninterrupted flow of material throughout the operation by moving material by hand and/or power equipment. The position will be responsible for receiving in deliveries of product, loading shipping trucks, accurately picking orders, and transferring materials in various ways throughout the warehouse. Additionally, the position should be an effective communicator to be able to relay any discrepancies throughout their processes cross-functionally, written or verbally, and collaborate on any necessary corrections. This position will have a high level of knowledge and understanding of the system functions required to properly use the Warehouse Management System. The ideal candidate is a safety focused individual who understands the responsibility of operating heavy equipment with a great attention to detail.
This role spends approximately 50% of the time supporting the Receiving department and involves frequent, consistent lifting and movement of boxed materials of up to 50 lbs throughout the day. The Material Handler must be comfortable performing repetitive manual handling tasks while maintaining safe work practices and productivity standards in a fast?paced receiving environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Safely operate all warehouse power equipment and hold OSHA required operator certifications. Follow all safety training, equipment instructions and maintenance procedures.
Receive incoming shipments by unloading, breaking down, verifying quantity and consolidating materials via repetitive manual lifting according to Receiving SOP.
Quality sample for product identification and weigh scale of product to confirm deliverable quantities. Provide details and photos of issues and email as directed.
Safely Load and unload materials from trucks or other transport vehicles by hand or with equipment.
Use ORBIS Warehouse Management System tools to receive, ship, store, transfer, consolidate, cycle count and pick physical inventory for production orders, or business need.
Forecast and report out daily information or issues in the categories of Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
Actively support 6S initiatives across the operation.
Be the main point of contact and assist others within the Warehouse during the absence of the Supervisor.
Train new Material Handlers.
Facility duties for weather, such as ice removal, salting walkways, etc. may be assigned.
Requests are completed with a positive attitude.
May be assigned special projects or other duties, flexing to packing work when required.
Skills & Qualifications:

All skills & qualifications of the Packer position.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
Proficient technical skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Possess necessary computer skills to utilize required systems. SAP trained and certified.
Displayed Leadership qualities, ability to train others.
Safety focused, takes responsibility for safety of self and others.
Attention to detail relating to measurements, counting, and product quality. Great use of judgement.
Previous experience with warehouse equipment such as forklifts and turret trucks.
Ability to think independently, work without direction, and make decisions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Repetitive lifting of objects up to 50 pounds for up to 8+ hours per day
Engage in frequent bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching
Prolonged standing or sitting for the duration of the shift
Must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks.
Ability to work effectively in a non-temperature-controlled facility, enduring warm conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter
Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Education/Experience requirements: 3+ years of experience within PGH Operation, or previous relevant experience. High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Previous production, assembly or packaging related experience preferred. Previous experience operating warehouse equipment preferred.
