Overview

The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). One of the following certifications is required upon hire: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT Basic (EMT-B). Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care tasks and procedures as appropriate.

Perform administrative and clerical duties, including chart preparation and management.

Maintain an environment for safety, identifying and addressing safety concerns for patients, visitors, and employees.

Assess situations from multiple viewpoints to develop realistic action plans and evaluate outcomes.

Collaborate effectively with inter‑departmental teams to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.

Operate within daily operational workflows efficiently and productively.

Utilize appropriate, safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible resources.

Qualifications / Requirements

Education: High School Diploma required.

Certification/Licensure: CCMA, CMA, RMA, EMT-B, or Paramedic certification required.

Experience: None required.
