Why choose the College of Lake County for your next opportunity?The College of Lake County (CLC) offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits that includes Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois health, Delta Dental and Superior Vision insurance plans, tuition support for employees and qualified family members, three retirement plans, disability, group and supplemental life insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending account plans, a compressed work week in the summer (Closed Fridays!), generous vacation, sick and personal time off and 14 paid holidays each year.Some benefits will not be available for Part-Time or Part Time Staff Under 20 Hours (ex: health insurance).Position Title:GroundspersonJob Summary:The Groundsperson maintains the exterior of the campus, maintains and repairs college vehicles, and maintains and repairs grounds and fleet equipment.Job Description:Maintain the exterior of the College, including lawn mowing, cultivating flowers and trees, seeding, and spraying.Repair and maintain College vehicles.Repair and maintain equipment such as lawnmowers, tractors, sprayers, etc.Perform all snow removal on campus parking lots, roads, and sidewalks.Prepare the athletic fields, including spraying, fertilizing, and striping.Build equipment as needed such as picnic benches, barricades, etc.Repair roadways as necessary.Assist with the maintenance of the prairie area as needed.Transport heavy equipment for other departments as needed.Demonstrate solid commitment to the Q-DIALS Program and participate in CLC goals and initiatives.Demonstrate Service Excellence communication methods to ensure student success and build the College’s reputation.Follow all institutional and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. Utilize self-appraisal to measure progress on performance goals.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.A valid “B” CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with air brake endorsement is required, or must have the ability to obtain one within 12 months. Must have a clean driving record.Possess a State of Illinois pesticide license or have the ability to obtain one within 12 months.Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 70 lbs. on a frequent basis, and over 70 lbs. on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodations.Ability to continuously walk or stand, and frequently bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist; occasional sitting required.Ability to work on lifts or ladders.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals related to facilities and installed equipment.Effective communication skills.Practical and demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively handle competing priorities.Ability to fully support the mission and values of the College.Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities.Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to work with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other contacts during the course of work.Desired QualificationsGrounds care and maintenanceSnow removal, including experience with medium and large equipmentMechanical repair experienceBilingual in Spanish and EnglishPay$20.37/hourWork Schedule7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - FridayDriver EligibilityPositions requiring operation of College vehicles are subject to a motor vehicle record (MVR) screening.
