The unit operates at a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on a night shift schedule (18:45–07:15, 4x12 hours). The unit accepts first-time travelers as well as local candidates. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster.
