COOK - HOURLY (PART-TIME)

UCP Long Island is a not‑for‑profit agency dedicated to advancing independence for individuals with disabilities.
Location: Commack, NY 11725.
Salary Range: $17.16 to $20.59 per hour.
Position: part‑time, union‑based Food Service Worker at a 31‑bed intermediate care facility.
Schedule: Fridays/Saturdays, 5:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Sundays/Mondays, 10:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
General Purpose Provide nutritious meals, box lunches, and snacks in accordance with the special dietary needs of residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare meals, box lunches, special diets and snacks.
Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including appliances, counters, and shelving in accordance with state regulations.
Follow safe food‑handling instructions, wearing gloves and practicing frequent hand washing.
Receive, store, and date all merchandise.
Comply with menus approved by the dietician.
Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all staff.
Demonstrate concern and respect for individuals’ rights and personal preferences.
Comply with ICF/DD regulations on nutrition and menu planning.
In conjunction with the Food Service Supervisor place orders for food and supplies.
Perform other duties as directed by the Food Service Supervisor.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
