Job Location: La Vista Correctional Facility , Pueblo, Colorado
This position will act as the Liaison between colleges, students, the facility and technology to facilitate classes, set up equipment and technology, assist students with technology usage, promote student engagement, provide support to the virtual college professor, and ensure students' materials are disseminated and returned promptly. This work will be performed inside a correctional facility and will involve inmate contact.
Maintain classroom equipment to ensure continual access to virtual classes as scheduled, ensuring students and instructors can view and hear the sessions;
Work with the college staff and internal Prison Program staff to ensure connectivity, account set-up and class logins;
Provide support in areas including, but not limited to: course registration, financial aid/FAFSA issues, college transfers, career development, and other miscellaneous issues;
Maintain technical expertise in computer platforms and software areas and collaborates with facilities to ensure compliance with security operations;
Contribute to facility safety and security by creating a positive, safe learning environment;
Ensure computer based testing labs meet vendor security requirements, manages all paperwork and stores records for audits;
Perform eOMIS tracking on higher education students and mentor/mentee sessions;

Experience Only: Five (5) year of relevant * professional experience working in an education or training environment (tutoring, academic advising, course coordination, student records, computer-based test, and career development goals).
OR - Experience and Education: One (1) year of relevant *professional experience working in an education or training environment (tutoring, academic advising, course coordination, student records, computer-based test, and career development goals) -AND- graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. ( You must attach a copy of your unofficial college transcripts with your name, college name, degree and date conferred to your application, in order to receive credit ).
Professional work involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, and personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is uniquely acquired through an education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Additional education from an accredited college or university in a field of study described above will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout their shift;
Ability to read and comprehend the English language;
Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing;
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind.
Experience and/or education with counseling or coaching skills to assist students;

Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, to include English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments and written/practical exams in Defensive Tactics.
Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
