Full-Time Direct Support Professional / Caregiver

We are looking for amazing staff members who will help our individuals truly become a part of the community in Medina County by developing meaningful relationships and experiences for them outside of their homes.

The individuals you will work with at TLC may visit places in the community already, however, with your help we hope to assist them in moving from guests to valued members of the community. We understand that the definition of a community means something different to everyone. We are confident that our amazingly creative staff will help define what community involvement means to each individual.

As a full-time Direct Support Professional you will spend 32+ hours each week assisting individuals with all aspects of their lives- from helping them pick out the decorations for the living room to helping them to cook dinner for their housemates. DSPs will support the individuals to be as independent as possible. Many of the individuals living at TLC do not use spoken language as their mode of communication so our DSPs need to be patient, active listeners, who are able to interpret the actions rather than the words of the individuals being supported.

We want to empower all staff to work with the individuals and help them design their Best Life. We have found the most successful interventions are implemented after DSPs collaborate with their coworkers and our Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals(QIDP) who add the information to the Individual's Plan.

We encourage our staff to communicate their questions and concerns to our dedicated management team as we continuously evaluate our policies and practices, modifying them as needed.

Additionally, TLC uses the Ohio Alliance for Direct Support Professional’s (OADSP) curriculum for part of our new hire training.

Each new staff member starts their career at TLC with the OADSP Basic Certificate, followed by hands-on, in-house training with an experienced staff member as a Mentor.
