Assignment: 16-week contract with Hospice of New York (opportunity to extend or transition into a permanent full-time role)
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Patient Caseload: Approximately 20 visits per week (about 5 visits per day)

Paid Training Program
All hired nurses will complete a comprehensive 3-week paid training program , including:

2 weeks of classroom training in Long Island City (LIC)

1 week of supervised field training

This program is designed to ensure confidence and success before independently managing patient visits.

Key Responsibilities

Provide skilled hospice nursing care to patients in their homes

Conduct follow-up hospice visits

Administer medications and treatments as ordered

Provide wound care management

Perform IV therapy and related interventions

Conduct patient pronouncements when appropriate

Monitor and manage pain and symptom control

Collaborate with interdisciplinary hospice team members

Educate patients and families on care plans and symptom management

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Provide emotional support to patients and families

Clinical Skills Required
Candidates should have hands-on experience with:

IV therapy

Midline catheter management

Tracheostomy care

Foley catheter care

Ostomy care

Nephrostomy tube care

Tenckhoff catheter management

Tube feeding administration

Chest tube management

Advanced wound care

Pain and symptom management

Qualifications

Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in one or more of the following:

Hospice

ICU

Med-Surg

Community Health

Oncology

Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and care planning skills

EMR proficiency (WellSky experience preferred; training provided)

Recent physical exam (within 1 year)

Current PPD/QuantiFERON (within 1 year) or chest X-ray (within 5 years)

MMR immunization documentation

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Authorized to work in the United States

Ability to work independently in a field-based setting
