L3Harris is seeking a dynamic Mechanical Engineer who will design and manufacture electronic data acquisition systems for use in Anti-Submarine Warfare, ship self-defense, acoustic ranges and geophysical exploration products. They utilize CAD software to create blueprints, perform simulations to ensure safety and efficiency, and oversee production to meet project specifications. Implement assigned projects and project tasks to provide mechanical engineering solutions including: mechanical design, parts selection, CAD and modeling, stress analysis, thermal analysis, environmental impacts, packaging and assembly and test equipment design for undersea systems.Ensure that assigned project tasks meet technical and schedule requirements. Conduct thorough design analyses including interface design, models, equipment prototypes and R&D test tools.Prepare engineering drawings and documents.Direct and coordinate activities for product assembly / fabrication, equipment operation and/or installation and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Responsible for following sound safety practices as documented in the company's quality system manual.Implement check and balance procedures to monitor, review and evaluate design activities performed to assure conformance with customer requirements, company standards and sound engineering practices.Select materials necessary to support the design.Develop manufacturing and producibility analyses.Ensure that the design is fully compliant with customer specifications.Perform failure analyses and document results.Prepare design review material in support of PDR, CDR, FDR and technical audits for assigned designs.Develop, issue, and implement internal technical and engineering practices and procedures.Promote cordial relationships and foster and maintain a favorable business profile with customers, suppliers, co-workers, industry and professional associations, government agencies and the local community.Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security clearance.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 4 years' prior related experience. Or In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience Experienced with MIL-STD-810 testing and documentation.Extensive experience with CAD (Solidworks) and FEA software to perform mechanical design and analysis is required.Experience with electronics packaging for harsh environmental conditions.
