Contribute to research and development projects in areas such as Nuclear Fuels, Nuclear Criticality Safety, Isotope Production, and Enrichment Science and Engineering, Irradiation Engineering, Advanced Nuclear Materials, Reactor Modeling and Simulation.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to successfully implement and determine the feasibility of ambitious nuclear projects.

Interact effectively across organization structures with staff scientists and engineers and be an effective representative of ORNL and their research to sponsors and the professional community.

A BS or MS degree in nuclear engineering, engineering sciences or a related field.

Prior experience contributing to world-class research and development projects.

Experience, knowledge or training in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

Nuclear fuel cycles.

Isotope production.

Nuclear reactor modeling.

Irradiation engineering.

Nuclear criticality safety.

Advanced nuclear materials and their applications.

International trade outreach and material security.

High-performance computing (HPC) methods for nuclear applications.

Standard design software (e.g., This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
