Head of Recruiting & HR

This role provides HR leadership for a Sysco site in Columbia, SC, offering coaching to site leaders and associates on employment-related matters and ensuring consistent application of HR policy, legal compliance, and people processes. The position also supports investigations, workforce planning, and prevention-focused culture initiatives.

Responsibilities Facilitate the Sysco Speaks Associate Survey efforts.

Analyze survey findings and review trends with senior management to recommend actions that support positive organizational change.

Review, interpret, administer, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws , as well as company policies and procedures.

Develop and maintain the site’s Affirmative Action Program (where applicable), complete required Equal Employment Opportunity reporting, and ensure EEOC compliance.

Conduct investigations and prepare written responses to EEOC claims, unemployment claims, and related matters.

Partner with site leaders to create and maintain workforce staffing plans . Coordinate recruiting efforts with Sysco Business Services (where applicable) to support hiring of competent, diverse, and skilled workers and to help maintain appropriate workload levels and minimize turnover.

Support development of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) plans aligned to operational goals to reduce accidents, injuries, and incidents.

Provide day-to-day direction and support to site HR staff through proactive guidance, troubleshooting support, and issue escalation.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree with a major or emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

Experience At least 7 years of demonstrated HR leadership and management experience in distribution/manufacturing environments .

Certifications (Preferred) Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) .
