A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are key responsibilities. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction are priorities. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:

Performs assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to meet the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions.
Facilitates, coordinates, provides, evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Delivers education appropriate to care, treatment, and services during the patient's stay and at discharge.
Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel effectively.
Functions as a mentor or preceptor and encourages teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement appropriately.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in the practice governance model.
