Responsibilities

Daily Documentation: Accurately record a patient’s medical history and daily observations.

Physician Order Management: Transcribe physicians’ orders to MAR’s and notify pharmacy of new orders.

Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician, including injections, prescribed medications, enemas, etc.

Vital Sign Monitoring: Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.

Patient Observation & Monitoring: Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications, and monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output.

Charting: Accurately compose and maintain patient charts.

Assistance with Daily Activities: Assist ailing patients in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing, etc.

Basic Medical Care: Clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks.

Sample Collection: Collect samples for lab testing as assigned.

Emotional Support: Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.

Family Communication: Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions.

Other Duties as Assigned: Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

Active and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License within the state of Illinois (required).

Compassionate and patient, with the ability to remain calm in a demanding environment.

Experienced in providing diverse basic care to those who need it.
