General Engineering

Performs highly advanced professional engineering work and provides supervision for one or more engineering functions of a specialized nature. This is highly advanced professional, administrative and supervisory engineering work. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for directing specific projects and programs and performing other comparable field and/or office engineering work. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor.

Supervises staff engineers and technical and clerical staff, including preparation of employee performance reviews, delegation and oversight of work and training of staff members.
Meets with consulting engineers, contractors, citizens, and other governmental agencies to discuss County Code, policies, and other related questions; Supervises and assists on the review's final construction plans and engineering reports for subdivisions, commercial and industrial projects for compliance with Orange County Codes & Regulations.
Supervises and assists the Development Engineering sections of (a) Development Review, (b) Platting, and (c) Development Inspection.
Supervises the reviews of E-projects and S-plans for compliance with Orange County Codes & Regulations.
Participates in community meetings and public hearings which includes making presentations to the community and decision-making groups. Responds to inquiries from citizens.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or other related field and eight years of experience in engineering. Experience, Licensure, or Certification in any of the following fields: Development engineering, Surveying, Construction, and/or Project Management
