Provide care in an urban metro environment with a wide scope of practice!
This posting is for 12-hour shifts in Metro Bakersfield. We also have rural station openings on 24-hour shifts in blocks of 2 shifts (48 hours at a time) available in West and North Kern County.
The Bakersfield Metro is currently ranked 5th in the Nation for Homeownership Rates among under-35 residents. Hall Ambulance offers a schedule that affords you work-life balance, with only seven 12-hour shifts every two weeks. Ability to compassionately serve the patients in your community.
Respond to medical emergencies in the community. Assess illnesses and injuries and administer basic to advanced emergency rescue and paramedical care. Provide medical treatment to the ill and injured and manage the illness or injury during transport. Prepare patients for transport via ambulance to hospital. Guide and support EMT's in the application of appropriate EMS techniques. Operate emergency vehicle and equipment to care and transport the patient effectively. Complete patient records and transfer of information to healthcare provider. Administers first-aid treatment and life-support care to sick or injured persons in the pre-hospital setting.
Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical treatment procedures. Manages or assists paramedics and nurses in the management of illness or injury for emergency patients in accordance with specified protocol and procedure.
Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures listed in the State EMS Scope of Practice, such as splinting, medication administration, stomach suction, intubation, airway management and heart monitoring during ambulance transport.
Operates equipment such as EKGs, external defibrillators and bag-valve mask resuscitators in advanced life-support environments.
Observes, records, and reports to a healthcare provider the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided and reactions to drugs and treatment.
Effectively coordinates patient care with other emergency medical team members and police and fire department personnel.
Communicates with dispatchers and treatment center personnel to provide information about emergency situations, to arrange reception of victims and to receive instructions for further treatment.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of patients for transport, ensuring compliance with emergency medical transport regulations, protocol and procedures.
Inspects emergency medical equipment and vehicles to ensure serviceability and compliance with safety and infection control regulations and standards.
Takes every reasonable precaution to maintain security and protection of sensitive data.
Safely operates emergency vehicle in accordance with state law and company protocols, including during stressful situations.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Completion of a recognized Paramedic training program.
Valid & current Class C California Driver License.
Insurable by Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. driver's insurance policy including age minimum of 20 years.
