With a record backlog of high performance, aluminum boats to build for the military and first responders, SAFE Boats need experienced Aluminum Welders/Fabricators to apply their expertise to our amazing products.

The Welder/Fabricator 3 uses welding and other tools and equipment to join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal to build boats. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring standard work is being performed, and identifying and resolving quality issues. This position can apply their experience to problem solve and complete advanced tasks/work effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision.

Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc & plasma arc.

Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools.

Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

Advanced skills in welding, fabrication & fitting

Advanced knowledge and expertise in aluminum welding

Advanced knowledge in standard build practices in comparable manufacturing environments

Follows directions and procedures under limited supervision.

Conducts basic problem-solving skills under supervision.

Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to a minimum of 5 overall years of experience in expertise.

Requires a superior working knowledge in the usage of production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools and fabricating equipment.

Experience in marine industry/boat building preferred.

Ability to pass a welding skill test appropriate for the position.

Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
