Hospital Respiratory Therapist, RRT - Nights

Administers floor and critical care therapy modalities. Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis and instrument QC. Maintains and processes equipment. Maintains NBRC credentials for Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist
Ensures safe and appropriate oxygen administrations through the Oxygen Therapist Driven Protocol.
Performs non-invasive SpO2 monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous and spot checks.
Administers all therapy modalities to patients per physician orders.
Performs VEST therapy.
Performs basic operations on the Meditech system.
Performs regular equipment rounds.
Performs equipment cleaning and set up.
Sets up and operates CPAP/Bi-Level therapy.
Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
Adheres to established blood gas quality control protocol.
Performs trouble-shooting and maintenance of Blood Gas Machine as a Super User.
Sets up and monitors NIPPV (non-invasive positive pressure ventilation) through both Bi-Level and Volume ventilation.
Initiates, operates and monitors Adult mechanical ventilators.
Initiates, operates and monitors Nitric Oxide therapy.
Initiates, operates and monitors Heliox therapy.
Precepts new employees or staff members entering into a new area of training.
Performs Metabolic testing for spontaneously breathing and artificially ventilated patients.

Vocational School Graduate (Respiratory Therapy)

Required: One year critical care experience.

Preferred: One year NICU/PICU experience. Knowledge and experience in basic floor care and mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, capnography and oximetry equipment.

Required: Respiratory Therapist I: Virginia Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (Licensed Respiratory Therapist – Code CardioPL07 in Lawson – OR State Registered Respiratory Therapist – Code CardioPL14 in Lawson)
Maintain NBRC credentials for Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (Lawson Codes: CardioPL 03 OR CardioPL05 OR CardioPL11 OR CardioPL12)
