Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION: Duties: As a Dental Hygienist, you would perform any of the allowable services in accordance with Section 6606 of the New York State Education Law, under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist providing compassionate oral care for the developmentally disabled population. Charting of existing dental history and noting the areas of deterioration which need repair. An important part of your duties would be in-office education of patients and/or their aides. You would work collaboratively with the dental assistant when available and assist the dentist, when needed, with chair-side procedures. Maintenance of all tools and equipment in compliance with OSHA Standards. Some travel to alternate location would be required to provide service in both locations. Interaction daily with individuals and staff and on occasion with family/guardians/service coordinators/nursing staff and primary care physicians.
