In addition to serving TCR participants, the Institute partners with businesses, schools, universities, and nonprofits to help them create empowered cultures within their organizations.The Finance Manager serves as Twin Cities R!SE's lead internal finance professional and is responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting operations, financial reporting and forecasting, grant administration, payroll oversight, internal controls, audit preparation, and finance administration. The Finance Manager reports to the Vice President of Business Operations, supervises the Staff Accountant, and partners with cross-functional leaders, external auditors, and the Finance Committee to ensure accurate financial reporting, sound stewardship of organizational resources, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys both operational excellence and strategic partnership. This role offers the opportunity to elevate financial literacy across the organization by translating complex financial information into practical insights and equipping leaders to make thoughtful, data-informed decisions.The Finance Manager will help strengthen reporting, forecasting, financial planning, and business processes while ensuring TCR remains a strong steward of public, philanthropic, and participant-centered investments.As part of TCR's commitment to accountability and transparency, recent annual reports, audited financial statements, and IRS Form 990 filings are available on TCR's Reports & Financials page for candidates who would like additional insight into the organization's financial structure and stewardship practices.Workload may increase during year-end close, budgeting, quarterly forecasting, audit, and Board reporting cycles and be lighter during other periods.SE's finance function, overseeing accounting operations, payroll, financial reporting, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities.Supervising the Staff Accountant while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented finance team focused on professional growth.Preparing and analyzing financial statements, forecasts, budgets, dashboards, and management reports to support leadership and Finance Committee decision-making.Partnering with organizational leaders to provide financial guidance, budgeting support, forecasting, and business insights.Managing grant and restricted-fund financial activities, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and stewardship of resources.Managing government grant budgets, compliance, reporting, reimbursements, reconciliations, audits, and funder requirements while partnering with program staff to ensure accurate and allowable spending.Coordinating annual audit activities, support Form 990 preparation, and maintaining compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Strengthening internal controls, financial policies, systems, and reporting tools to support organizational effectiveness and accountability.Leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance finance processes, reporting, efficiency, and organizational decision-making.Supervision: Supervises TCR's Staff Accountant.Health, Dental, Vision, employer-paid Life and AD&D, employer-paid Long-Term Disability, Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contribution, Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care FSA, Limited FSA, Accident coverage, Critical Illness coverage, Hospital Indemnity coverage, 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan with employer match, Employee Assistance Program, professional development opportunities, Paid Time Off, company holidays, and Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.Five or more years of progressive nonprofit accounting or finance experience.CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent coursework.Experience with grant-funded environments.Experience with Salesforce or integrated financial systems.Strong knowledge of and skills in GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, grant compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations.Experience leading audit preparation, internal controls, Form 990 support, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into actionable recommendations.Ability to prepare and communicate accurate, meaningful financial statements, reports, dashboards, forecasts, and management insights for both financial and non-financial audiences.Strong relationship-building, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, including the ability to work effectively across diverse teams, communication styles, and organizational levels.Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Proficiency with accounting systems, Microsoft 365, financial reporting tools, data analysis technologies, and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI, in a business environment.Required to occasionally move about in an office environment to access file cabinets, printers, etc., Ability to move about in the community.Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 15 pounds).Ability to be on video call for all meetings.Workload and scheduling needs will vary based on business demands and key finance cycles.Location/structure of work: employee will be expected to work in the TCR office for leadership meetings and other colleague collaboration, approximately weekly (welcome to work in the office daily but not required).Applications must be submitted online, via the Careers page on the TCR website.
