Head of Fundraising & Philanthropy

The Director of Philanthropy is accountable for designing, developing, and implementing a values‑driven, high‑performing major and leadership gifts program that includes a planned giving component focusing on the Athletics, Fitness & Wellness (AFW) Capital Campaign. Establish and oversee annual and long‑term objectives for the AFW major and leadership gifts team, executing on these plans to meet financial goals and College priorities.
Provide leadership and direct management for athletics major and leadership gift officers, integrating their efforts across campus and directing their activities and strategies with the goal of securing gifts of $50,000 plus in support of the College’s strategic priorities.
Work with the Vice President, Advancement and Innovation to contribute to strategic planning, decision‑making, and goal setting for the advancement team.
Identify, recruit, develop, train, supervise, and evaluate major and leadership gift and administrative staff, including performance reviews and professional development.
Report regularly to the VP Advancement and Innovation on personal fundraising performance, including future projections; assist the President and VP with portfolio analysis, travel plans, and donor outreach.
Establish performance metrics for the major and leadership gifts team, fostering a culture of accountability.
Meet regularly with direct reports to review campaign fundraising performance and advise on strategies; Secure and conduct five or more personal face‑to‑face visits monthly to qualify, engage, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects.
Create regular reports that accurately reflect activity and performance, tracking progress toward fundraising goals.
Partner with the Director of Prospect Research to identify and approve prospects for assignment, oversee fundraiser portfolio effectiveness, and support prospect management.
Coordinate with the Director of Prospect Research to utilize innovative analytics to maximize the potential of the College’s overall prospect pipeline.

Develop a long‑range strategic asset development plan with the President and leadership team.
Create and execute fundraising plans that utilize best practices in major and planned gift programs to meet goals.
Draft and review gift documents, including gift and endowment agreements.
Provide support to the major gifts team on various giving vehicles and gift design.
Work with Finance to update gift acceptance policy and other compliance documents.
Further develop and implement a marketing strategy for the College’s bequests and other deferred gifts, including direct mail, seminars, electronic and web‑based strategies.
Bachelor’s degree required. 10+ years of progressively responsible professional fundraising experience.
Proven ability to present complex information in different formats to various audiences, including senior management and trustees.
Willingness to travel to meet prospective donors and attend events or represent the College as needed.
Availability for weekend and evening hours may be required.
