Plant Journeyman Electrician - Day Shift

KEITH Walking Floor Systems provide horizontal loading/unloading solutions for bulk materials, pallets, bales and rolls. The company’s state-of-the-art production facility in Madras, Oregon operates using Lean Manufacturing practices. Position Summary
KEITH Manufacturing Co. is seeking a skilled and motivated Plant Journeyman Electrician to join our Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment throughout our manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting production uptime, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring electrical work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving CNC machinery, automated production equipment, motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Install electrical conduit, wiring, panels, disconnects, transformers, and related components.
Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and motor control circuits.
Assist in machine installations, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and applicable electrical codes.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions in a timely manner.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage within company maintenance systems.
Coordinate with production, engineering, and maintenance personnel to support operational goals.
Recommend improvements that enhance equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
Minimum of 18 years of age.
Able to communicate in English with team members (Speak and reading, writing ability required.)
May be required to pass employer performance tests including pre-employment drug screening.
Industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, VFDs, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, and electrical safety practices.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with minimal supervision.
Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
Basic computer skills required for maintenance documentation and communication.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Working Conditions
Works in a manufacturing and maintenance environment.
Exposure to machinery, moving equipment, electrical systems, noise, and varying shop temperatures.
May be required to respond to production equipment issues and maintenance priorities as they arise.
Equipment / Machinery Used
Electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
Hand tools, power tools, conduit tools, and maintenance equipment.
Ladders, lifts, forklifts, and other plant support equipment as needed.
Physical Requirements
Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Able to work in confined spaces and elevated locations when necessary.
Able to distinguish colors used in electrical wiring and controls.
Able to work around moving equipment, machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
