Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. Our four-star rated skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is located on a beautiful 20+ acre campus just north of mid-town Miami.

We serve approximately 1200 patients and residents each year, providing a full range of long-term care, treatment, support, and post-hospitalization services. Physical Therapy Assistant MJH

Administers skilled physical therapy interventions to patients with physical impairments related to musculoskeletal, neurological, integumentary systems, and other conditions to promote/maintain functional independence as outlined in the physical therapy plan of care. Administers treatment that align with the plan of care and practices within the scope of the physical therapy state practice act

Implements discharge planning, as outlined in the plan of care, assuring equipment needs, home exercise program, and follow-up care are addressed appropriately and documented in the medical record

Assesses whether continuation of skilled therapy aligns with regulatory criteria

Reports observations of performance and response to treatment to the physical therapist

Provides supervision, guidance and assistance to rehabilitation aides and students in their delivery of services and reports as indicated to PT regarding pertinent issues.

Perform related non-clinical services necessary to maintain the efficient operation of the PT department, and adjusts schedule as required

Reports equipment malfunction immediately and maintains an adequate level of supplies

Assists PT with ordering adaptive equipment, durable medical equipment, and supplies and assists with issuance of DME

Performs related non-clinical services necessary to maintain the efficient operation of the Physical Therapy department, and adjusts schedule as required

Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant preferred

1 year of experience in physical therapy and experience working with geriatric population preferred

Florida licensed physical therapy assistant

Effective written and oral communication skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Be well organized, flexible, dependable, and punctual

Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel)

Infectious Material Exposure:

Demonstrates the ability to perform the following tasks without posing a threat to the health and safety of those involved (employee, co-workers, caregivers, patient): lift, turn, move, position and transport patients in and out of bed, chair, bathtub, wheelchair, lift, etc.

Minimal assist transfers are defined for purpose of this document as the ability to lift and control 50 pounds

Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to

Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Miami Jewish EmpathicareSM toward MJH residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests

Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information

Able to speak, read and write English
