The Crisis Clinician is a member of a multi-disciplinary team, which provides telephonic and outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services to individuals and families. The primary goals of these programs are to divert individuals from admission to an emergency department, the criminal justice system, and inpatient psychiatric treatment while maximizing the use of community resources for stabilization purposes. These programs serve individuals who could have a co-occurring disorder and may also be homeless. MRRCT which includes the Mobile Crisis Assessment and Triage (MCAT) team and Child, Youth, and Family Mobile Crisis (CYFMC) team. The Crisis Clinician provides rapid response, assessment services, crisis intervention, engagement, supportive counseling, information and referral, assistance with Medicaid enrollment as appropriate, linkage to requested/necessary resources and appropriate community-based mental health and linkage to substance use services for ongoing treatment and follow-up.

SHIFT: SUNDAY-WEDNESDAY 10AM-8:30PM. There is added shift differential for this shift of 5.24%.

Provide initial and follow-up phone triage, assessment, and de-escalation services for individuals who are in an emotional or behavioral health crisis, including those referred for Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) services.

Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults, and families in a behavioral health crisis and facilitate use of/access to crisis hospital diversion resources.

Provide referral services to individuals requesting assistance or 3rd party referral sources to provide community stabilization and diversion services to the identified individual in crisis, including linkage to a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR).

Complete risk assessments to determine if the person is at risk for suicide and/or homicide, and staff the results of the assessment with a supervisor or clinician II to ensure the person’s safety and the safety of others.

Work in collaboration with the Mobile Dispatch Unit to ensure case response meets contract requirements.

High-risk cases must be brought to a supervisor, in a timely manner, for immediate and appropriate assistance related to response.

Provide initial and follow-up phone and face to face assessments for individuals who are at risk.

Create or further develop recovery plans and on-going support to promote stabilization plans with the individual’s support network.

In collaboration with clients and their support network, develop stabilization and safety plans that are reviewed with a Clinician II or supervisor.

Possess an in-depth knowledge of community resources and ability to access resources to support and address client needs.

Follow up on referrals made regarding at risk/high risk individuals to ensure stabilization and/or services obtained.

FBH will attempt to hire staff for a fixed shift. However, there may be a time that a clinician may be asked to work a different shift due to coverage concerns.

Maintain working relationships with the courts, attorneys, providers, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative persons at inpatient psychiatric facilities throughout the state, staff of other agencies, advocates and consumer groups and citizens.

Participate in Peer Review, supervision, in-center educational and administrative meetings as directed.

Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and practices.

Assist clients in obtaining basic needs such as emergency housing/shelter services, financial assistance, medical services, medications, and other resources that will help them maintain stability in the community.

Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health related field

Strong engagement and customer service skills, empathy, ability to remain calm, professional, and clear headed during escalated situations.

Knowledge and skills in working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active driver’s license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.

This position provided client services in community settings on a daily basis. Community settings include but are not limited to residences, group/congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, the streets or anywhere in the community at large. Daily travel between locations is required.

Daily use of a computer is required.

PAY RANGE (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $25.89-$31.53

All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus, the starting base pay for this position is $25.89 per hour.

This position is eligible for added shift differential of 5.24% due to the Sunday -Wednesday 10AM-8:30PM shift.
