Human Resources Generalist, Payroll and Recruitment

The Human Resources Generalist will support the day-to-day administrative functions of the Human Resources department. This role is heavily focused on HR coordination, employee support, payroll and benefits administration assistance, onboarding, maintaining employee records, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, professional, and interested in growing within Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day administrative functions of the Human Resources department.

Assist with recruitment activities including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, reviewing resumes, and communicating with candidates.

Assist with onboarding and new hire paperwork, including background checks, I-9 documentation, employee files, and orientation coordination.

Maintain employee records and ensure HR files and documentation are accurate, organized, and up to date.

Prepare employment verifications, personnel forms, and other HR-related documents as needed.

Assist with leave administration tracking, including sick leave, vacation, and other employee leave requests.

Coordinate employee acknowledgements, compliance documentation, and required certifications.

Support HR audits, reporting, compliance projects, and other departmental initiatives as assigned.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Training, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree required; study in human resources, organizational psychology, or related field preferred.

1–3 years of human resources, administrative, or office support experience preferred.

Strong computer / technology skills, literate and familiar with the Internet, Word, and Excel.

Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company.

Must be able to pass a fingerprint background investigation.

Must be able to pass a TB test, physical exam, and drug screening.

The Human Resources Department will explore reasonable accommodations that could enable an employee who has a disability to perform the essential competencies of the position.

Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, utilize fingers, hands and arms up to 2/3 of the day.

Lift items and assist clients with lifting items up to 25 pounds 1/3 of the day.

Clear close and distance vision and be able to adjust the focus.

Ability to operate a vehicle and recognize all street signs.

Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing.

Use keyboard and read from computer screen.

Environmental Conditions

Ability to adjust to climate, outdoor and indoor conditions such as extreme heat, humidity and cold weather.

All information in case records shall be confidential and shall be available only to the placement agency staff and personnel who need access for the performance of their duties, otherwise special consent is required.
