Location: Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza
Afternoon/Evening shift 1230pm-900pm. Will rotate every third weekend and holidays. shifts, or 1-40 hr. shift. Benefits Eligibility: This position is eligible for full time benefits.

Collect and preserve blood samples and certain other body fluids for analysis.
Shift differentials & other financial incentives

• Academic sponsorship with Methodist College
• Performs duties of a Phlebotomist to assist in the daily workload by performing assigned tasks.

Performs basic dermal and venipuncture collection.
Maintains compliance with established processes: turn-around time expectations, collecting and handling specimens, proper documentation of sample collection.
Document orientation, training, and education to ensure employee competence, provide excellent services, and meet accreditation requirements by effective verbal or written communication.
Communicates efficiently by answering telephones, taking messages, and forwarding information or calls to appropriate staff.
Identifies problems and initiate immediate follow-up as necessary with the Phlebotomy Leadership or designee to ensure accurate, timely laboratory services by using critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Phone calls are acted upon promptly and handled in a professional manner per the customer service protocol as directly observed.
Afternoon/Evening shift 1230pm-900pm. Will rotate every third weekend and holidays. shifts, or 1-40 hr. shift. High School diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. (High School diploma or equivalent required for CAP surveyors only).
Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures, accrediting agencies and as directed by Leadership.
6 months of phlebotomy experience that qualifies for American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification, or approved equivalent certification, preferred.

• Completion of a structured, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) approved phlebotomy training course, or approved equivalent course, or equivalent preferred such as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or MA AND experience in the following areas.
• Willing to adjust schedule/shift and pick up open shifts to meet patient needs.
