Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Assistant Manager for its Headquarters facility located in Novi, MI. Hino Motors offers a competitive wage and benefits package.Responsibilities include:Lead purchasing team in activities of all responsible platformsSupervise team membersSupport product planning and engineering – developing plans to support new program launches and special projectsPromote teamwork and cooperation with interacting departments including JapanWork closely with related department and manufacturing plants to ensure operational needs are achievedCost data management: input pricing data and resolve discrepancies working with buyersDevelop, implement and manage commodity strategyGenerate commodity cost estimates to build sourcing, negotiation, and supplier development strategiesAnalyze costs to understand and evaluate supplier competitivenessDrive continuous improvement in the supply base in support of Hino Motor's business goalsNegotiate part cost and tooling for your responsible supply baseFacilitate annual supplier cost improvements/manufacturing improvements activitiesPlan and direct materials and supply to reduce cost and improve qualityProvide support to manufacturing plants for both strategic issues and supplier performance issuesIssue purchase orders for production components and toolingRegularly report out progress to leadershipRequired knowledge and skill sets:Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skill setsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and data management skillsExperience working with non-U.S. based customers/suppliers preferredHigh level of attention to detailStrong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers preferredAbility to work independently under tight deadlines is essential in this fast paced environmentExperience:5 – 7 years of purchasing experiencePurchasing experience of automotive componentsExperience in stamping and fabrication commodities preferredExcellent understanding of automotive suppliers in North America, experience with the commercial truck industry is preferredManagement/supervisory experience preferredEducation:BS in business, supply chain management or financeOther:Position requires traveling up to 25% of the time.Position might require moving equipment up to 10 pounds or less.
