Hardware Engineer VThe Hardware Engineer V will be part of an engineering team developing extensive power electronics and battery systems expertise. The Hardware Engineer V will participate in the development of electrical architecture and design, integration and debugging of new electrical hardware and validation of the design in a structured engineering environment. The qualified individual will be responsible for documentation of the design changes, supporting the transition of new designs into manufacturing, as well as solving complex engineering problems associated with new product introduction. This role will work onsite at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon, and reports to the Technical Engineering Manager.Hardware Engineer V Job Duties:Manage the electrical requirements and specificationsDocument the design architecture and formal design synthesisModel and simulate the performance of electrical circuitsElectrical schematic capture and BOM maintenanceComponent selection to meet requirements for uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS) for industrial applicationsWork with the mechanical engineering department to develop circuit designs to support required functionality and meet requirements for size, weight, and powerPCB layout for EMI/EMC compliance and manufacturability.Participate and lead design reviewsParticipate in failure root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsPerform hardware design verification and validation testing and resolve design flaws or performance issuesCollaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical expertise to ensure product performance and functionality meets requirementsDevelop production validation and product acceptance test criteria to support transition into manufacturingScoping project effort and stay on scheduleRisk assessment and mitigationMentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and techniciansRequirements:A Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering10+ years of experience with power electronics, board-level circuit design and simulation, and analog and digital circuit designExperience working with voltages up to 600VdcExperience designing and debugging systems with microcontrollersKnowledge of serial communications protocols and hardware interfaces, including I2C and CANProven experience in analog circuit design, electronic noise reduction and filtering techniquesProficient in using hardware debugging tools, test equipment, and oscilloscopesExperience designing for FCC and CE complianceExperience designing for UL complianceAbility to work under pressure and deliver on time in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as neededRequires proven experience with microcontrollersRequires developing designs using Altium Designer SuiteRequires excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Experience/Skills:A Master of Science in Electronic EngineeringKey Competencies:Attention to detailIntegrityAccurate data collection and analysisTroubleshooting and problem solvingResults OrientationSound engineering/scientific judgmentTeamwork and collaborationInitiative and driveExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:Work involves sitting, walking, and lifting up to 40 poundsDomestic and international travel by car, airplane, bus & trainRequires close visual acuity, the ability to distinguish color, and the ability to hearAbility to wear Personal Protective Equipment when requiredManufacturing, warehouse, lab, and office environmentsSalary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.In addition, the successful candidate for this position will become eligible for a comprehensive set of outstanding benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, paid sick time, paid time off for vacation, paid holidays, paid community service days, professional/personal learning program, and applicable state/federal paid family leave.ZincFive is committed to employing a diverse workforce.
