Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.

For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.

Apex manufactures these satellite buses at scale using a combination of software, vertical integration, and hardware that is designed for manufacturing. Our spacecraft enable the future of society: ranging from earth observation to communications and more.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mission Operations Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation and management of our spacecraft, ensuring the success of various space missions. This role requires a deep understanding of spacecraft systems, mission planning, and real-time problem-solving abilities.

Mission Planning and Execution:

Develop and execute detailed mission plans for small spacecraft operations.
Monitor spacecraft during mission operations and respond to anomalies in real-time.

Spacecraft Operations

Analyze telemetry data to monitor spacecraft health and performance.

Implement corrective actions and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

Data Analysis And Reporting

Analyze mission data and generate comprehensive reports on mission outcomes.
Maintain detailed documentation of mission operations and procedures.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in spacecraft technology and operations.
Propose and implement process improvements to enhance mission efficiency and reliability.
Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in spacecraft operations, mission control, or related fields.
Proven track record of successful mission planning and execution for small spacecraft.
Proficiency in spacecraft operations software and tools.
Experience with telemetry data analysis and anomaly resolution.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and C/C++.
Experience with software development tools like Git, Jenkins, and Docker.
Knowledge of satellite operations software, such as GMAT, STK, or similar.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by mission schedules.
Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
