Phlebotomist Permanent

This is a contract job opportunity. Potential for perm.

Location: Newberg, OR

Schedule: 6:30AM to 6:30PM M-F and covering 2 Saturdays a month. Shifts will be 8 hours but may need to start as early as 6:30 or end as late as 6:30PM depending location.

This is a float position covering Newberg, Bridgeport, Sherwood, and Portland. The home base will be the PSC closest to where the candidate lives. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Mileage expenses paid.

Description

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Explain venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.

Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all physicians’ orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy, and package specimens for transport.

Store specimen samples according to required temperature.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum 2 years of experience performing phlebotomy tasks.
