The Director of Engineering at Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Washington, DC is a full-time, on-site role responsible for leading the hotel’s engineering, maintenance, and technical operations. This role oversees the engineering team, sets priorities, and manages daily workflows to ensure optimal functioning of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety, and building automation. The Director of Engineering develops and manages preventive maintenance programs, coordinates repairs, and partners with other departments to support guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. This position manages capital projects, vendor relationships, and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The director also analyzes performance metrics, optimizes resource utilization, and contributes to strategic planning for property improvements and technology integrations.

Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to direct engineering staff, allocate resources, and build a high-performing, safety-focused team.

Experience with Software Development and Integration for building systems, property management platforms, and related technical solutions that support hotel operations.

Proficiency in Project Management to plan, execute, and monitor maintenance initiatives, renovations, and capital improvement projects on time and within budget.

Extensive knowledge of hotel facilities operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety systems, and building automation, preferably in a hospitality or commercial setting.

Ability to interpret technical documentation, building codes, and regulatory requirements, and to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with skill in using data and metrics to improve performance and reduce operational risk.

Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with hotel leadership, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field; equivalent experience in facilities or hotel engineering management may be considered.

Experience in a leadership role within hotel, resort, or large commercial property engineering operations is highly beneficial.
