More than 2,500 team members at more than 70 Tidelands Health locations bring our healing mission to life each day.A Brief Overview The Phlebotomist will obtain and prepare specimens for analysis and perform various screening tests.What You Will DoPerforms order entry and medical necessity screening for Medicare patients.Performs specimen collection, including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, and culture receipt. Demonstrates proper infection control.Performs proper and prompt specimen transport.Performs proper drug screen collection and processing.Answers lab phones and responds to questions.Actively participates in lab process improvement project.Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED or relevant experience/education needed to obtain certification RequiredExperience QualificationsExperience working in the clinical setting PreferredSkills and AbilitiesStrong customer service skillsFamiliarity with electronic medical records (EMR)Interpersonal skills and compassionAnalyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solvingKnowledge of infection control proceduresBedside mannerAttention to detailProcedural and organizational skillsQuality focusBasic computer skillsPunctualityLicenses and CertificationsPhlebotomy Technician Certification - American Medical Certification Association Required orPhlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology Required orNational Certified Phlebotomy Technician - National Center for Competency Testing Required orRegistered Phlebotomy Technician - American Medical Technologist Required orCertified Phlebotomy Technician - National Healthcareer Association RequiredBasic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire.
