Temporary RN with Mental Health

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or a multi‑state nursing licensure compact license (NLC/eNLC) to practice as a registered nurse.

Perform professional nursing duties including administration of blood, blood components, IV medications, parenteral nutrition, and central line therapy under supervision of a higher‑level RN.

Assist in developing a nursing plan of care for patients in assigned units.

Receive and fulfill physicians’ instructions regarding patient care, and transmit orders to other departments as needed.

Assist physicians with patient examinations and record patients’ mental and physical health histories.

Assist in emergency code situations.

Instruct and educate patients in health and hygiene procedures and in self‑administration of prescribed medications.

Probationary, or promotion of a permanent classified Louisiana State employee.

Permanent employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.

Employees selected for promotion may need to serve a trial detail before permanent promotion.

Positions may also be filled as temporary appointments; permanent status may be granted if a permanent position becomes available.

Registered Nurse 1 - SER of $29.84 per hour.

Registered Nurse 2 - SER of $31.93 per hour.

Registered Nurse 3 - SER of $34.17 per hour.

Premium pay of $5.00 per hour is available in addition to regular pay.

State employees receive ten paid holidays each year, including New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mardi Gras, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Additional holidays may be proclaimed by the Governor.

State employees are eligible for retirement through the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System.
