CNA -NURSING CARE

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in an acute care float role provides direct patient care across multiple units within a short-term acute care hospital setting. This position requires flexibility to float between units as needed, delivering essential nursing support and assisting with patient activities under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The CNA is expected to maintain high standards of care, communicate effectively with the care team, and adapt to varied clinical environments including psychiatric and emergency settings.

Responsibilities:

Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
Perform routine clinical tasks including vital signs measurement, specimen collection, and basic patient assessments.
Support nursing staff by preparing patients for diagnostic tests, assisting in emergency situations, and providing post-mortem care.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of patient rooms and equipment.
Document patient care activities accurately using electronic medical records systems.
Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to licensed nursing staff.
Float between various hospital units as required, adapting to different patient care needs and environments.
Participate in orientation and training sessions, including extended hours during initial orientation week.
Required Skills & Certifications:

Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
Current AHA BLS Provider CPR certification at hire.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to perform patient care duties in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in acute care, psychiatric, or emergency settings.
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Epic.
Comfort with floating between multiple hospital units and adapting to varied clinical demands.
Special Considerations:

Candidates must be willing to stay an hour or more beyond scheduled time during orientation week.
Flexibility to float between units is mandatory; exclusive assignment as a sitter is not guaranteed.
No on-call requirement, but weekend work is needed as required.
Limited return to office (RTO) flexibility is helpful due to unit operational demands.
Must be able to work in a Level II Trauma Center and Pediatric Trauma Center environment.
Scheduling:

Position includes floating shifts across hospital units with no block schedules required.
Orientation includes a reduced 16-hour non-billable period versus standard 40 hours.
Weekend shifts are required as needed.
