Mine Electrician

Under the general supervision of the Mine Maintenance Manager and the direct supervision of the Mine Maintenance Foreman, the mine electrician completes installations, maintenance of electrical lines, electrical repairs, and construction work in the mine. Mine Electrician will inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, and communication and power circuits. Apply an extensive level of knowledge of electrical work, and a working knowledge of most of the shop skills, i.e., electric and gas welding, black smithing, rigging, pipe fitting, machine tool setup and operation, sheet metal layout and working, heavy and light machinery repair, construction, maintenance and installation, etc.
Operate mobile equipment, such as a fork truck, crane, and winch truck. Order parts as necessary for repairs or provide proper and correct information for parts to be ordered.
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and systems utilizing technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems.
Perform some painting and carpentry work and occasionally will assist in the training those with lesser skills.
Assist electricians of higher classifications, or within his capabilities, work alone and direct the work of others.
Operate any and all plant tools necessary in this electrical work,
Perform routine tasks such as greasing, oiling, cleaning, and inspection of equipment and attachments.
Locate and remedy electrical trouble in most of the plant's various machines, equipment, and installations.
On occasion, as a matter of training, may be given tasks of a skill normally required of an electrician of a higher classification.
Successful bidder must be a qualified journeyman.
Requires over (2) to (3) years of general shop and electrical experience to qualify, or through the training program
Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meter, and testing equipment required
Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics
Must be able to work overtime as necessary
