Registered School Nurse

Provide healthcare to students with acute and chronic health concerns.

Responsibilities:

Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and illnesses

Administer prescribed medications and treatments (insulin injections, nebulizer treatments)

Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies)

Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, etc.)

Develop and monitor healthcare plans

Maintain accurate student health records

Ensure immunization compliance per state regulations

Document incidents, treatments, and communications

Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with EMS

Develop and implement emergency care plans

Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns

Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators

Work with community health agencies and healthcare providers

Other duties as assigned by administration

Terms of employment: School nurse positions follow a 186-day fiscal year schedule. This includes all days when teachers are present in the building (180 days), plus an additional (total) 6 days scheduled before the start of the school year and after the conclusion of the school year.
