~ SCHEDULE FOR OUR SUBSTATION DESIGN ENGINEER:

This is a full-time hybrid position in Houston, TX, offering a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.

YOUR ROLE AS A SUBSTATION DESIGN ENGINEER:

You'll take ownership of complex substation structural designs-analyzing systems up to 765kV while developing detailed calculations and connection designs that ensure safety and performance. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with engineers, fabrication teams, and project leadership to align design intent with execution, reviewing drawings, resolving challenges, and optimizing for manufacturability. You'll also play a key role in project success-participating in meetings, supporting bids, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring quality through rigorous QA/QC processes-making your contributions critical from initial concept through final delivery.

Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field

• 5+ years structural steel design experience
• Experience in industrial, utility, or heavy steel environments
• Knowledge of steel design and load analysis
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Substation design experience

Fabrication collaboration

Experience with software such as PLS-POLE, PLS-CADD, STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, RAM, AutoCAD, Tekla, or Bluebeam
