Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel contract at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, working 12-hour night shifts with a 50-mile radius requirement.
Details

• Acute care ICU setting at a Level II Trauma facility
• 33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitors are used with tele tech oversight
• Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
• Floating may occur to PCU (1:4 ratio) or occasionally Med/Surg (1:5 ratio)
• On-call response time is 30 minutes if called back in after being placed on call
• Nurse aides are available based on census; Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week (M–F, 0800–1630)

Requirements

• Active NE RN license or Compact (NLC) license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Active driver's license required for consideration, used to verify residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Candidates may not be currently or recently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside firms will be considered
Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift
A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on Wednesdays during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure may result to contract termination
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them may result in contract termination
Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period are required
RTO must be requested upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
Block scheduling is not available except for weekends only
Self-scheduling applies to core staff; travelers are added to the schedule after core staff
