Histotechnician Specialty Stains
Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford CT Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Histotechnician Specialty Stains to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators. Troubleshoots minor equipment failures, prepares reagents, solutions, and control slides. Prepares reports and ensures that quality control criteria are approved by the pathologist. May provide training and modification of SOP's pertaining to Special Stains.
Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures.
Ensures the quality of dyes through independent testing according to appropriate rigorous chemical and performance criteria and SOP's.
May obtain and prepare control material used in IHC procedures for validation.

40 hours, Day shifts - 5am-1:30pm
Associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last 5 years or at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), or an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry(must include credit hours in both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology (clinical, veterinary, industry or research) laboratory in the U.Canada or an accredited laboratory* within the last ten years.
Must have at least 1 yr Histotechnician with specialty stains
