Chemist - Fulltime

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-time Chemist (NH-1320-03) to work for Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the 635 SCOW, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base located in Dayton, Ohio. Citizens

Serves as senior technical expert in the chemical analysis area. Critically reviews, evaluates, and interprets current literature, agency reports, technical reference data, and data from laboratory and field studies concerning specific organic or inorganic products in connect with the use and performance of these materials in storage facilities, vehicles systems, and propulsion systems. Serves as a technical expert in analytical techniques (both wet chemistry and instrumentation) used in the analysis of inorganic and organic materials. Obtain & maintain a security clearance

May be required to travel to perform temporary duty

Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Professional mastery of a broad range of principles, theories and practices of the chemical specialty area encompassing analytical testing and process monitoring to support depot maintenance weapon system maintenance, and supply chain processes. Skill in the interpretation and application of ASTM test methods and other standard chemical procedures as they apply to depot maintenance, weapon system maintenance, and supply chain processes.

Ability to apply and knowledge of chemical hygiene, lean, health, safety, environmental and security principles as outlined in applicable technical orders, regulations, practices, and/or procedures.

Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conducts research, summarize results, monitor workload/projects, make appropriate recommendations, and develop innovative solutions.

Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.

Ability to communicate (prepare technical reports, present results and analysis of problems, and present conclusions) effectively with others (both orally and in writing) in a courteous, tactful, and diplomatic manner to gain cooperation in achieving goals and to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups.
