Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing the contract (maximum of 2 attempts). Floating among all telemetry and medical-surgical units is required. Travelers may float to ICU, cardiac telemetry, as well as all telemetry, medical-surgical units, any holding areas (including Cath Lab, observation floor, and others). Notification regarding campus and unit will be given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. Floating to different units mid-shift may occur.

Unit has 32 beds. Charge nurses do not have patient assignments. Patient care technicians are available at a ratio of 1 per every 16 patients. Shifts are 12 hours from 7 to 7. Floating is required to similar or lower acuity units. Common diagnoses include post-cath lab, post-vascular procedures, CABG patients, and general telemetry patients. No pediatrics are included; patients should be 15 years and older. Orientations will include two days on the floor. Additional floating to medical-surgical units is required. Unit will have a variety of patients primarily from surgical, orthopedic, and oncology specialties. All care will be overseen by hospitalists or intensivists, with coverage on call at night. Nurse aides will be available during the day. Weekend requirements will include four weekend shifts over a four-week period. The rate of required shifts may vary as per applicable guidelines.
