Marist University seeks applications for the position of Security Officer. The Security Officer is responsible for providing excellent customer service and focuses on safety and security to all members of the Marist community. This position supports the institutional ideals of excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service. The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of the campus community, remains alert and always engaged, demonstrates an understanding and embraces engagement with a diverse population, and is capable of handling crisis situations by responding in accordance with department standard operating procedures.
High school diploma or GED
Possess a valid New York State Security Guard license.
Must be available for flexible hours and on-call status.
Patrol assigned area on foot or in an assigned motor vehicle to ensure campus community member safety and security as well as to protect and preserve university property
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; provides other public assistance, such as directions, lockout services, jump-starts, and other routine assistance
Watch for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
Contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
Remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; Perform periodic checks of fire / life safety equipment, as well as campus lighting, to ensure proper functioning; Provide safe and efficient transportation for campus community members and guests upon request using patrol vehicles
Patrol and monitor assigned parking areas to provide public security and enforce infractions utilizing automated ticket system.
~ Respond to general illness / injury calls, conduct scene size-up, perform patient assessment, and provide basic first aid until advanced medical personnel arrive on scene

Write accurate and detailed post-incident case reports, using the department's online report writing system, for management review and approval
Identify fire safety issues and report observations
