Individuals should strive to create a healing environment that respects the perspectives and experiences of the individuals, families, staff, and communities we serve by practicing safe, respectful communication as well as recognition of individuals' boundaries and differences.Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to the following and are dependent on building being maintained:Clean and maintain restrooms – sweep, mop, sanitize all surfaces, clean and polish mirrors and dispensers, replace trash liners, replenish soap and supplies as neededBasic trash removal; responsible for the proper recycling of all recyclable goodsVacuum staff offices, conference rooms and common areasSweep and mop floors in hallways, community rooms, lounges and foyersSpot clean walls, doors, door jams, partitions, light switches, etc.Clean elevator(s) - wipe down walls and elevator buttons, sweep and mop floorClean all water fountainsClean stairwells - wipe down walls, doors and door jams and sweep floors and stairsClean exterior and interior windows on entry doorsDust indoor window ledges and walls, remove cobwebs, wipe down base boardsRealign, dust and polish furniture in common areas, lounges, and conference roomsClean and maintain common area kitchen(s) – garbage, recycling, and floors only (staff are responsible for dishes and appliances)Clean and maintain all laundry rooms including behind machines and lint traps. Restock soap as neededInspect common area furniture for wear and defects; complete maintenance request as neededReport unsafe situations immediately (i.e., frayed cords, broken chairs, tripping hazards, etc.)Inventory cleaning suppliesGeneral upkeep of outdoor areasGeneral assistance with moving and set up of light furniture/equipment as neededAssistance with basic maintenance needs as requested by Facilities DirectorAssist in light shoveling of sidewalks and entrywaysClean up of spills consistent with Health and Safety standardsAdditional site-specific duties per assignment including but not limited to apartment turnover activitiesEducation and Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one year of experience in housekeeping and/or custodial work is preferred. Valid NYS Driver's License required.Skills and Abilities: Reading and interpreting information, following instructions, developing, and maintaining a schedule of duties; analyzing and evaluating situations and using independent judgment and initiative in taking effective action; communicating clearly and concisely; setting priorities and meeting deadlines.; ability to use cleaning equipment. Must be detailed oriented and enjoy working as part of a team. Must be able to work effectively and professionally around persons with mental illness.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to move supplies and use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, minimal outdoor work. Ability to turn, stoop, bend and stretch to perform work. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
