Hospital - Capital Division (Adult ICU / Acute Care)
Location: Henrico, VA (Richmond Area) - Zip: 23229 - Virginia respiratory therapy jobs
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 - July 27, 2026)
Shift: 12-hour Nights (19:00 - 07:00)
on-call preferred (one 24-hour shift every 5-6 weeks)
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Active Virginia state respiratory license
Minimum 1 year of ICU experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in a hospital setting is strictly required. Candidates without ICU respiratory therapist experience will not be considered.
Proficiency with Meditech EMR or similar electronic medical record systems
Strong skills in mechanical ventilation, ventilator management, and weaning protocols
Ability to obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) and operate blood gas machines
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care across hospital units including adult ICU and acute care - typical duties for hospital respiratory therapists
Administer and monitor therapies: nebulizers, BIPAP/CPAP, oxygen delivery systems, and advanced airway management
Obtain, interpret, and document arterial blood gases (ABGs); operate blood gas analyzers
Accurately document care in Meditech EMR and communicate respiratory status updates to the care team
