DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, DAVIDSON COUNTY - Position located at Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center (DJRC).

Job Screening Requirements

Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.

This position requires a criminal background check. Applicants may be required to provide information about their criminal history to be considered.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and one year of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree and three years of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.

Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and five years of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.

Work experience may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Relevant additional coursework (e.g., business administration, supply chain management, logistics) may substitute for the required work experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Overview
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for procurement work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. Duties include purchasing, issuing, storing materials, supplies, and equipment, and may involve supervisory responsibilities for lower‑level procurement staff.

Responsibilities

Analyzes all purchases to ensure they meet all departmental, state, and federal guidelines; justifies purchases through documentation.

Writes product specifications for competitive vendor bidding; conducts research to locate vendors and compare products.

Identifies ordering errors, selects optimal solutions, and communicates with vendors and staff to resolve discrepancies, disputes, and grievances.

Prepares service contracts, screens purchase orders for accuracy and proper justification; receives supplies, monitors payments and invoices, and follows up on late shipments.

Prepares records and reports (letters to vendors, purchase orders, service contracts, operating reports); maintains current inventories of supplies and equipment; tags state property as needed.

Monitors contract periods for updates and expirations to ensure correct procedures are followed; researches product specifications and price information to allocate resources effectively.

Communicates continually with staff across the state to ensure all procurement processes are accurate and completed.
