Network Specialist
Primary Purpose: The Network Specialist provides technical support for Sheldon ISD's network and related infrastructure, including network switches, wireless access points, telecommunications, paging and bell systems, intrusion systems, video surveillance, UPS systems, and network cabling. This position supports daily network operations and serves as a backup to the Network Administrator as needed.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED
Three (3) or more years of related technical experience and/or previous experience supporting technology infrastructure in a K12 environment
CompTIA Network+ certification required within one (1) year of hire
Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field
HPE Aruba Networking Certified Network Technician (ACNT) certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, Ethernet, switching, and wireless infrastructure
Ability to configure and troubleshoot Aruba CX, HP ProCurve, 3Com, and other supported network switches
Ability to install and troubleshoot Aruba wireless access points
Working knowledge of Mitel telecommunications systems
Working knowledge of FrontRow and Rauland Telecenter paging and bell systems
Working knowledge of intrusion/alarm, video surveillance, and UPS systems
Ability to install, test, and troubleshoot network cabling and connected infrastructure
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the Technology Department
Must be available to assist with technology-related emergencies before and/or after standard work hours as needed
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Serve as a backup to the Network Administrator and assist with the support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district network infrastructure.
Configure, install, replace, and troubleshoot Aruba CX, HP ProCurve, 3Com, and other district-supported network switches.
Install, mount, replace, and troubleshoot Aruba wireless access points at campuses and district facilities.
Support the district's Mitel telephone system, including phones, extensions, user changes, basic configurations, and troubleshooting.
Install, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot FrontRow and Rauland Telecenter campus paging systems and maintain campus bell schedules.
Support district intrusion and alarm systems, including troubleshooting, authorized user changes, schedules, and system audits when requested.
Install, replace, relocate, troubleshoot, add, and remove IP-based surveillance cameras at campuses, Special Education classrooms, and other approved district locations.
Support and maintain district UPS systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, battery replacement, and equipment replacement.
Assist Campus Technology Specialists with light network and low-voltage cable runs, including terminating, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting network cabling.
Assist with network and infrastructure installations related to campus projects, renovations, relocations, and new construction.
Maintain accurate documentation of assigned equipment, systems, configurations, installations, and technical work performed.
Complete assigned service tickets, projects, and technical requests in accordance with Technology Department standards and established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Coordinate with Technology staff, Safety and Security personnel, vendors, and contractors as needed.
Follow district cybersecurity, network security, and technology standards.
Provide professional customer service and support other areas of the Technology Department when network or infrastructure assistance is needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals; small truck or van
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)
Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Salary: Minimum Salary $26.46 Stipend $2,000 Salary is commensurate with experience Works 240 Day Calendar Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
