Job Overview
Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Framingham, MA. The role is hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote. You will work directly with clients to ensure any project - simple or complex - meets high quality standards. The position offers expertise in NESC, structural pole modeling, electrical power calculations, GIS design training, field data collection, and client design standards.

Location & Work Schedule

Key Responsibilities

Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.

Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, and Make Ready using customer GIS and WMS systems such as EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo.

Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned.

Perform functional tasks, planning, and customer follow‑up.

Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities.

Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes that drive efficiency and high‑quality standards in client design deliverables.

Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assess and develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.

Be comfortable in both field and office settings; may require local or regional customer‑site visits to collect field data.

Background Requirements

2+ years of relevant experience.

Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred; other relevant experience or certifications may be considered in lieu).

Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).

Prior experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault current calculations.

Reliable transportation; local or regional customer‑related travel anticipated (travel reimbursed at IRS‑approved rates).

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Experience (Nice to Have)

Estimating costs, developing BOM, calculating CIAC.

Use of design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult.

Experience with work management software and job estimating software.

CAD or MicroStation experience performing Electrical Distribution design.

Pay Range
$59,150.00 - $106,925.00 (general guideline only; actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, market data, and internal equity).
