Hospitalist Physician - Night Shift

Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Hospitalist Physician (Family Medicine) to provide comprehensive physician services in support of Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. The Hospitalist Physician will perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility and will provide high-quality, patient-centered care within a hospital environment.
This position requires a credentialed and privileged provider with Hospitalist/Family Medicine qualifications who is able to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within the scope of their training, experience, and granted clinical privileges. The provider must be comfortable working in a hospital setting, supporting patients and families during potential crisis situations, inpatient rounding, admissions, discharges, acute care and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals and resources.
Job Responsibilities
The Hospitalist Physician (FM) will perform duties including, but not limited to:
Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility.
Perform duties in primary care, including pediatrics and specialty care, as approved by the CRDAMC governing credentialing board.
Perform Family Medicine scope of services, including examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of medical, surgical, obstetric, gynecological, orthopedic, and pediatric care.
Examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and granted privileges.
Provide first-contact, continuous, and comprehensive care for assigned patients, as applicable to the position and granted privileges.
Provide high-quality standards of care in accordance with Joint Commission requirements, DHA, CRDAMC Medical Treatment Facility, and local regulations and policies.
Order diagnostic tests, request consultations, and make appropriate referrals to physicians, clinics, or other healthcare resources as indicated.
Facilitate patient access to continuing medical care through appropriate referrals, appointments, consultations, procedures, and coordination with other healthcare providers.
Coordinate and integrate care across healthcare systems, including subspecialty care, hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, and other care settings.
Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other healthcare professionals within the scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities.
Teach and provide consultation to other healthcare providers, students, interns, residents, and volunteers, as needed.
Provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training for clinical staff, as appropriate and within scheduled work hours.
Participate in continuing medical education programs, in-service training, informal training, and professional staff meetings when permitted and applicable to patient care services.
Document all clinical encounters accurately and completely in the electronic health record no later than 48 hours after the day of service, or as otherwise determined by the Government.
Support quality assurance, risk management, random case review, professional reviews, and similar procedures as required.
Maintain and update the provider s Competency Assessment Folder as required annually or as identified by the Government.
Provide emotional patient and family support during potential crisis situations. Work within different environments and locations, within the scope of CRDAMC credentialing practices, as needed during staff shortages, absences, or low patient census. Follow all applicable Government and professional clinical standards, accepted clinical protocols, and Medical Treatment Facility procedures.
Comply with restrictions regarding inherently governmental functions, including being excused from meetings when topics change to Government business, policy, contract matters, or other inherently governmental duties.
Qualifications
Citizenship/Security
Must be a U.S. Citizen, as this position requires clearance/access to government systems.
Education
Doctor of Medicine, M.D., or Doctor of Osteopathy, D.O.
Graduate of an approved medical school in the United States or Canada, an AMA/LCME-approved medical school, an AOA-approved college of osteopathy, or a foreign medical school with ECFMG certification.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program.
Experience
Minimum of one year of post-residency clinical experience within the last three years providing direct patient care in Family Medicine.
Completion of a three-year ACGME-accredited Family Medicine residency program may satisfy this experience requirement.
Must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients across the full spectrum of primary care.
Must be comfortable working in a hospital environment, including potential exposure to infectious patients, use of required PPE, and providing patient/family support during potential crisis situations.
Must be flexible to work across CRDAMC environments and locations as needed based on staffing, absences, census, or mission requirements.
Licensure/Training
Current licensure in accordance with contract and Medical Treatment Facility requirements.
Basic Life Support
Board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
Must meet all applicable credentialing, privileging, training, and certification requirements identified at order placement or by the Medical Treatment Facility.
Hospital Credentials Committee will determine practice limits and privileges.
Working Hours
CRDAMC is a 24/7 Medical Treatment Facility. Work schedules are determined by the applicable Department Chief, designated Government representative, and Contractor based on mission requirements.
Work schedules may range between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., Sunday through Saturday.
Schedules may include day, evening, night, weekend, training holiday, and Federal holiday shifts.
Shifts may be scheduled for up to 16 hours but will normally be scheduled for up to 12 hours.
