Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) is a NJ State licensed nonprofit ambulatory care center providing free primary and preventive medical care to low-income, working, uninsured residents of Bergen County. Guided by a "Culture of Caring" philosophy, our staff and dedicated cadre of volunteer practitioners are committed to serving patients of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with dignity and respect.
BVMI offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights and no weekends, a supportive team, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Bergen County's uninsured residents.
The Staff Nurse is a vital member of the clinical team, providing high-quality primary and preventive healthcare to a multi-cultural, uninsured population. This role operates within a "Culture of Caring" that is respectful of patients and supportive of medical excellence. When required, the Staff Nurse may serve as a clinical lead to oversee patient flow and ensure nursing coverage.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred for RN candidates.
Current, unrestricted RN or LPN licensure in the State of New Jersey.
Experience: Previous experience in a primary care practice, community health setting or hospital-based ambulatory service.
knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) with the ability to train others.
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Clinical Care & Treatment:

Collaborative Care: Work with practitioners and nurse managers as part of a treatment team to address urgent, chronic, and preventive healthcare needs.
Assist practitioners in providing care both on-site and via telehealth platforms.
Provide healthcare education to patients and facilitate referrals to necessary ancillary services.
Leadership & Supervision:

Operational Oversight: Fill in as Charge Nurse as needed, supervising nursing staff and overseeing patient flow to maintain clinic efficiency.
Work effectively with BVMI's large volunteer medical staff to ensure seamless clinical operations.
Compliance: Adhere to all clinical protocols and safety standards as established by the Director of Nursing.
